ANECDOTES AND CURIOSITIES

It was the first European Championship to be played without semifinals, and so far the only one. It was played in Italy, but the Azzurri did not manage to win as they passed the round in second place behind Belgium. It was also the first European Championship in which the host country was designated even before the match began.

ANECDOTES AND CURIOSITIES

After the 78 World Cup, due to the decline of the generation of the great champions of the seventies, the Netherlands embarked on a crisis that will last almost a decade. Having qualified for the final phase of the 1980 European championship, the Oranje were eliminated before the semifinals, losing the decisive match against West Germany, then winners of the event. In the following years, other important objectives were missed, such as qualifying for the 1982 and 1986 World Cups, as well as for the 1984 European Championships.

Roma Home Jersey 1991/1992 season long sleeve red with buttonless polo collar and yellow inserts. On the front are the painted logos of sponsor Barilla and Adidas, while on the heart side is sewn the Coppa Italia patch. The Roma logo is painted on the left sleeve, while the number 10 is on the back.

ANECDOTES AND CURIOSITIES

Roma in '91/92 did not confirm much of what had been achieved in the previous season and finished in fifth place. At the end of the season, the ambitious new president Ciarrapico decided not to continue with Ottavio Bianchi on the bench. In Serie A, the bomber Batistuta arrived and Zeman's Foggia was noticed, which then went down in history as "Zemanlandia".

ANECDOTES AND CURIOSITIES

It was a very troubled season for Roma. President Viola died and the family proceeded to transfer the company to President Ciarrapico. The team was not consistent in the league, partly due to the doping scandal involving Peruzzi and Carnevale, but managed to win the Coppa Italia and reach the UEFA Cup final, which they then lost to Inter.

The summer of 1967 meant the end of the Grande Inter, with the sale of captain Picchi and the tightrope walker Jair. In spring 1968, after a season finale in a waning phase, with the last victory at Turin at the end of March, the president Angelo Moratti decided to sell the company to the textile impresario Fraizzoli.

Inter's 1988/1989 season was that of the Scudetto, the thirteenth in the history of the black and blue. Trapattoni, after two years in chiaroscuro, is called to a turning point. Thanks to the opening of the frontiers of Italian football, President Pellegrini managed to replenish an already excellent squad with the "German" acquisitions of full-back Brehme and midfielder Matthaus, as well as those of Diaz and the very young Berti, both arriving from Fiorentina. On the occasion of the Napoli - Fiorentina match, fifth day of Serie A of the 1989/90 season, Diego Armando Maradona makes his debut in the league. Due to disagreements with the club, struggling with the Argentine's desire to move to Marseille, Maradona enters the field only in the second half with the number 16 shirt. Under 2-0 at the end of the first half, Napoli manages to overturn the game by winning 3-2 thanks also to the decisive contribution of Maradona.

In the first six days of Serie A in the 1984/1985 season, Inter remained unbeaten, achieving 2 wins and 4 draws. The first defeat took place on the seventh day, in the Milanese derby, against Milan for 2-1. The following day, Inter recovered in the best possible way by beating Juventus 4-0 (2 Rumenigge, Ferri, Collovati). Then, a sequence of 14 consecutive useful results, including the internal draw 2-2 against Milan, stopped by the rematch of Juventus, who won in Turin against the Nerazzurri with the result of 3-1. The Inter team, led by Ilario Castagner, will end the season in third place in the league.

The 1981/1982 season was quite positive for Inter. Eugenio Bersellini's team, last year on the Beneamata bench, reached fifth place in the league and success in the 35th edition of the Italian Cup, won by the neroazzurri in the double final against Turin. In the first leg, in Milan, the match ended 1-0 in favor of the hosts; in the second leg, in Turin, the result was a draw with goals from Cuttone and Altobelli. “Spillo” Altobelli was one of the main architects of the success in the Italian Cup: the 9 goals in the Cup were added to the 9 in the league and the 3 in the Uefa Cup for a total of 21 overall goals in the 1981/82 season.
