In the 97/98 championship the club, with the arrival of Maurizio Viscidi, offers the new coach a team regenerated by the new signings: center-forward Aruta, Beghetto and Cammarata, midfielders Di Gia, Moretti and Tisci, goalkeeper Bordoni. A bitter sweet year that of 96/97 for Juventus, which in the wake of the success that took place on the top European stage on May 22, 1996 at the Olimpico in Rome on penalties against Ajax; fails to repeat in the year 96/97 in the final against Dortumund. Unfortunately that year for Cosenza was cursed. The team finished in 17th place the Serie B 96/97 championship, less than three from the salvation caught by Castel di Sangro.
