The Neapolitan team's shirt is light blue, a crew-neck model with black and white details on the sleeves. On the heart side there is the Napoli crest, while on the right you can see the logo of the technical sponsor Diadora in blue and the lettering of the commercial sponsor Lete further down. On the back of the shirt, the sponsors are recalled in the same colors, and at the bottom there is the 'NAPOLI' lettering in blue with a white outline.

Napoli's 2008–09 season was their 63rd in Serie A and their 67th overall in the top flight. To prepare for their return to Europe after 14 years, Napoli made several signings, including Christian Maggio from Sampdoria, Germán Denis from Independiente, Andrea Russotto from Bellinzona, Leandro Rinaudo from Palermo and Salvatore Aronica from Reggina.
